Evantic Director of Engineering to Present Research on UV Laser Marking at IWCS Cable & Connectivity Industry Forum

HOUSTON, Texas, September 21, 2026 – Evantic, a leading provider of high-performance polymer components and solutions, will share research on achieving durable, high-contrast UV laser markings on PTFE wire and cable insulation at the 2026 IWCS Cable & Connectivity Industry Forum, November 1-4 at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

Rodrigo Costa, Director of Engineering at Evantic, will present “Achieving Superior UV Laser Markings on Wire and Cable Insulation: An Instrumentation Advantage” on Wednesday, November 4, during Session 8: Codes & Standards, from 8:30 to 11:50 a.m.

The technical presentation examines how material formulation and laser marking performance can be evaluated to optimize mark contrast. Costa will discuss research into the effects of additive chemistry, additive concentration, and PTFE crystallinity, with samples marked and evaluated according to AS5649 and AS4373 standards.

The study also evaluated contrast before and after heat aging at 554°F (290°C) for 168 hours. Results identified additive systems capable of producing initial contrast above 65% for black markings and above 70% for white markings, with heat-aged contrast above 40% at relatively low additive loadings.

The presentation will provide insights into the relationship between PTFE formulation, additive systems, and UV laser marking performance, offering relevant considerations for engineers, designers, manufacturers, and other professionals working with wire and cable for demanding applications.

“This presentation reflects Evantic’s commitment to advancing polymer technology through research and sharing our technical expertise with the industries we serve,” said Mike Gaffney, Evantic Chief Financial Officer and Acting CEO. “We’re pleased to bring this work to IWCS and contribute to the ongoing exchange of knowledge within the cable and connectivity industry.”

The technical paper will be available after the event for those interested in reviewing the research, testing methodology, and findings in greater detail.
